At 21:16 on December 28, the 72-hour continuous trial operation of Unit 4 of the Yellow River Laxiwa Hydropower Station, which was built by the Fourth Bureau of Hydropower, was successfully completed and officially put into operation. So far, the Laxiwa Hydropower Station has been put into operation with a full capacity of 4.2 million kilowatts.
Laxiwa Hydropower Station is located on the main stream of the Yellow River at the junction of Guide County and Guinan County in Qinghai Province. A total of 6 700,000-kilowatt generating units are installed. An important part of the "West-to-East Power Transmission", it is also an important supporting power source for the 750 kV grid in the Northwest Power Grid. Unit 4 of Laxiwa Hydropower Station will give full play to the functions of peak shaving, frequency regulation and emergency backup to effectively ensure the safe and stable operation of the UHV outbound channel.
Laxiwa Hydropower Station started construction in November 2003, and the first five units were put into operation in August 2010. During the construction period, it is also known as one of the world's three major hydropower projects along with Longtan and Xiaowan Hydropower Stations. The No. 4 Hydropower Bureau has undertaken the main construction tasks of its diversion tunnel, left bank cable machine platform, left high line traffic tunnel, left bank mixing system, main dam concrete pouring, various grouting of the main dam and unit installation, among which No. 6 unit is China Power. According to statistics, as of the end of November 2021, the Laxiwa Hydropower Station had accumulated 134.9 billion kWh of power, equivalent to saving 41.9539 million tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 105.22 million tons, making outstanding contributions to economic construction and environmental protection in western China.
